One of few species that is found in urban, native forest and grassland habitats.

Pileus:Size 50 -100 mm Shape - rounded-conical or convex when young, expanding to broadly convex or plane; dry; densely covered in scale losing these with age, when young margin sometimes with hanging partial veil remnants. Colour White with brown scales becoming pale brown to buff with age. Odour not tested. Taste not tryed. Chemical reactions Not tested.

Lamellae: Colour pinkish at first then brown, Free.

Stipe: Size 80-100 mm long; 5-10 mm thick; equal, bulbous base in young specimens; white to bluff; covered in scales below ring with partial veil remnants.

Ecology: Saprobic, growing alone or gregariously on or near buried tree roots or stumps.
