A small brown Inocybe distinguished by its white fibrillose veil remnants, squamulose to scaly cap, reddish-brown stipe, and abundant metuloid cystidia. Found under Nothofagus in New Zealand

Pileus: 15-40 mm diam. Hemispherical to convex to umbonate-expanded to campanulate. Colour pale brown, brown to umber. Young margin densely covered with white fibrillose veil remnants. Surface dry, squamulose to scaly, occasionally innate-fibrillose. Margin often estriate-splitting with age. Veil fibrils disappear in older specimens.
Lamellae: Adnexed to adnate, ventricose, crowded (L ≈ 18, l = 1-3). Whitish to grey to argillaceous, finally brownish with olive tinge. Edge concolorous or albofimbriate.
Stipe: 20-60 x 2-4 mm, cylindrical, equal or slightly swollen at base. Reddish‑brownish, ochraceous at base. Dry, apex pubescent. Below the cortina: dense, conspicuous white veil fibrils, subpersistent. Solid; occurs single or cespitose.
Context: red-brown in stipe, paler to whitish in pileus.
Odour/tast: Not distinctive
