This species starts off bright orange, but as it matures it fades to yellow, although the gills still retain some of the orange colour. This is the most common form found in Auckland, which I have seen occur repeatedly in the same location for over 30 years. Recently, I noticed this species also has a very long fruiting life (4 weeks plus).
