Ramaria species
Description:
Of these red- or purple-tipped Ramaria species, New Zealand has two named species with the suggestion of another two undescribed species. All have very similar macro- and microscopic feathers, making it very difficult to tell them apart without looking at the DNA. The photos below might be R. purpureopallida or one of the undescribed species. Until more collections are made and research is done, the confusion over seperating this species group will stand.
